Football Transfer Update: Brett Pitman Leaves Premier League Club Blackpool and Moves to Bristol City
Having passed the medical, Brett Pitman has been signed by Bristol City on a three year contract.
The young striker is considered to be one of the most golden players in the lower divisions; he has netted twenty six goals while playing for Bournemouth last season. He has been the subject of a lot of talk and speculations when he got bid on by the Premier League new comers, Blackpool.
Brett Pitman was actually recently reported to have been in Blackpool to discuss terms of an agreement. The club made a six hundred thousand pounds offer for the player and he went to discuss it further and to try to make it a reality.
The discussions did not come out in the player’s favour, talks broke down, and the player returned to the south coast.
What is most surprising about the matter is that Pittman rejected the chance to play in the Premier League. In addition, days after rejecting the offer from Blackpool, another offer came from Bristol City and Pitman agreed to the terms and the conditions with the club without any hassle.
Brett Pitman is going straight into the squad and joining them in the team’s trip to Ipswich Town. Also according to an interview taken and then posted on the clubs official website, Pitman is very keen on starting with the new team and can barely wait.
Still what most people can’t understand is why turn down the chance to play in the premier League, like that is the goal! You play in the big Leagues and make your career, you get recruited for other teams, and if you are good enough, then you get recruited to play for the national team.
Pitman believes that he is not letting anything go. In an interview after joining the new club, he commented on the matter by saying that there were numerous reasons as to why he rejected the offer from Blackpool and the chance to play in the Premier League.
He said that he knows really well what the reasons are and so does the manager of the club but now he has chosen Bristol City and wants to remain here.
He went on to say that he has chosen Bristol City over Blackpool and not the Championship League over the Premier League but still everyone is thinking about the same thing that why did he do this.
As if two clubs come for a player, then the player obviously chooses the bigger club that is higher up in the League. Moreover, Blackpool would have broken their record and added Pitman to the first eleven.
It is clear that something happened when Pitman went down to Blackpool to discuss the terms of his contract. If the reason behind Pitman’s decision was the manager, the club or the city that is still not clear.
Ian Holloway commented on the upcoming new youngsters by saying that these kids are becoming ‘monsters’ as they are being paid way too much from a very early age and this is messing with these kids heads.
Even if Blackpool loses and gets relegated from the season, the club would still remain to be a Championship club. This means that Pitman was still be in a better position staying in his former club, Bournemouth.
Some say that Pitman declined Blackpool’s offer, as Bristol seems like a much more ambitious club then Blackpool and this is only a worrying factor for Blackpool.
If players are leaving the higher ranked club to join a lower ranked one, just because it is considered that un-ambitious, then that is a very worrying matter for the club and the fans.
